Can you tell me a little about yourself?
I am seen by both my industry colleagues and customers/clinical executives as a knowledgeable, trustworthy and honest professional who delivers on commitments. With nearly three decades of association with GE Healthcare, I come with rich experience in managing Sales, Global products, Customer Service (I was VP-Service @GEHC for nearly 5 years) and all the while, I was very closely connected with the customers. I hold a far and wide understanding of the customer requirement, market and competitive dynamics including knowledge of overall MedTech industry.
In August 2013, I joined as a CEO & Managing Director of BPL Medical Technologies Pvt. Ltd. I must say, this home-grown medical device organization is one of the fastest growing companies in the country with annualized revenue growth of over 20% on YOY basis. I strongly believe it’s time to fasten our belts for we are going to see this sector grow at even faster pace in the coming years. A short chapter of my experience between GEHC & BPL Medical, talks about my association with Bharti Infratel, a leading Indian provider of cellular tower telecom infrastructure as the COO and a member of the Core Executive Council; but having lion’s share of experience in MedTech domain especially with Medical Equipment, I have a heightened enthusiasm to create a promising Indian multinational organization in this space.

Can you inform our readers about BPL Medical Technologies Innovations, what makes the company different and how your business has developed in the last five years?
BPL as a brand comes with high Brand recall in the country due to its presence for well over 50 years.

Ltd. is a well-known Indian multi-national company reputed for its large product portfolio which can meet ~70% of the needs of any hospital initial setup. It carries a legacy of the first Indian company to manufacture ECG devices nearly 50 years ago.
With great professional design and integration mechanisms, we are bringing most of our ECGs, Patient Monitors, Defibrillator, Analogue and digital X ray solution including digital C Arms, to name a few, with unique features, protocols and clinical algorithms (AI) to help diagnose accurately.
Our first manufacturing facility located in Palakkad, Kerala is already 50 years old and an upcoming facility to meet the growing demands under make in India initiatives is getting set up in Bangalore confering to the highest standard of quality ensuring best in class clinical accuracy and patient safety. Headquartered in Bangalore which is popularly also known as Silicon Valley of India, we have a large team of R&D that stride to design and develop medical devices as per the latest product features and offerings. Today we offer an entire gamut of products ranging in non-invasive cardiology, Critical Care, Woman & Child Care, Imaging and Surgery as well as Home Healthcare solutions. We are also intensifying our effort to incubate many new products from our upcoming new facility by either own R & D route or by partnering with global Med Device players under transfer of technology. In addition, our continuously expanding network of sales and service manpower ensure timely support to our customers across the remotest locations in our large country. All these above combined factors make BPL Medical Technologies a one-stop solution for most of the technological needs in a healthcare setting.
BPL MedTech have launched several highly competitive and innovative products in India with international standards thereby venturing into global markets during the past 6-7 years.

How is BPL Medical Technologies Innovations approaching the concept of modern healthcare industry?
At BPL Medical, we are guided by our mission to sustain and further enhance “Happier Living Everyday” for all, which includes our customers, co-workers, partners, and communities at large. We always focus on developing solutions with Indian customers and ecosystem in mind and will continue along this roadmap.
The Government scheme of PLI is a step forward to fast track Make in India Medical Devices, and we have accelerated our efforts in this direction to develop more products. We have recently started a new manufacturing facility in Bangalore in addition to our existing facility in Palakkad.
The manufacturing facility in Bangalore has been set up with lots of investment for vertical integration of many of our existing products. We are committed to the vision of our respected PM to make India “Atma-Nirbhar” and are marching towards self-reliance in the space of medical devices under the initiative of making in India. We remain steadfast to local manufacturing and dedicated to offering value for money solutions to our customers and thereby enhancing the patient lives. Our goal is to provide quality and cost competitive solutions to domestic as well as global customer base.
Beyond hospital care, we also offer a wide range of devices that helps users monitor and keep a track of their health at home.
We also see a huge opportunity to export our products to neighboring countries and have made significant progress in terms of registering our products in several developing countries, thereby focusing on expanding our business in these geographies.

As the healthcare industry moves to a value-based reimbursement model, does it open the door to healthcare equipment makers to become true partners with healthcare providers?
Value based reimbursement is a welcome move which truly demands stakeholders across healthcare value-chain to bring more efficacy to the table. Medical device industry, without any exception, will have to deliver that products that can support overall life cycle in a cost-effective way and with highest uptime and un-compromised clinical outcome. We clearly will score on many players with great advantages and that gap in time to come will keep widening. This opens us to be true and strategic partners with the healthcare service providers.
